10 Pregnancy Lovemaking Realities You Can’t Escape

Expecting mothers don’t really like the idea of making love during pregnancy, mostly because they are scared of harming the little one inside their womb. However, lovemaking can be extremely normal even during pregnancy. The doctors might advise against intercourse only during the last few weeks of pregnancy since it might stimulate contractions prematurely. Apart from this, there is no need as such to change the intimate life you share with your partner unless there is a preexisting medical condition.

However, we all know that lovemaking during pregnancy is nothing like the regular one; the reason why a pregnant woman prefers to just avoid the hassle altogether. So, we bring you here 10 realities one faces while attempting intercourse during pregnancy:

1. You Need To Pee Every Three Minutes

At times, even after every three seconds. It all depends on how long you have been pregnant at that point. See, it’s simple – if nature calls, one needs to answer it! And, all these repeated interruptions really act as a dampener. Soon, you are in no mood to keep everything going.

2. Touch Me Not

During pregnancy, there are certain areas on a woman’s body where she doesn’t like being touched. At all! This includes areas like breasts (that are usually sore and swollen), tummy (again, swollen), hip area (yes, you guessed it right – same again), and thighs (you know the drill by now), among others. This leaves you with hardly any areas to indulge in some pre-lovemaking fun!

3. Those Lovemaking Moves Could Trigger Vomiting

Especially, during the first trimester. The rocking movements just before you achieve the big O might actually trigger vomiting or nausea. So, instead of enjoying it, you might actually find yourself wishing for it all to get over as soon as possible!

4. Those Moves Might Give You A Heartburn Too

This one happens during the second or the third trimester. A heartburn amid all that intimacy can really fizzle out your mood, wouldn’t it?

5. What The Baby Is Doing Becomes More Interesting

An expecting mother’s mind is always on her baby, even when she’s mid-way into something intimate. With all her attention focusing on the little being growing inside her, it is easy to get distracted by the tiny tot’s movements.

6. Your Partner Will Still Be Focused

While you will be focused on what’s going on inside your womb, your partner will not get distracted at all. He will stay cool and continue to stay focused on the task before him (pun intended!).

7. You Might Suddenly Remember How This Is What Got You Here

This happens more so when you suddenly find yourself feeling nauseous or experience a severe acid reflux. Or, you find your partner’s hand going in the above-mentioned restricted zones. You are suddenly reminded of how this is where it all began.

8. You Are Always Scared Whether It Might Hurt Your Baby

No matter how much all the doctors and experts tell you that it will not hurt your baby, it is an apprehension that remains on your mind. After all, it is your tiny one’s wellbeing that matters the most.

9. There Is No Such Thing As Comfortable Position

It is important to feel at ease during lovemaking, and it is difficult to find a comfortable position during pregnancy. So, despite trying to adjust, you cannot get over the fact that you are, indeed, uncomfortable!

10. By The Time You Feel At Ease, It Will Be All Over

By the time you’d have relaxed and you accepted your pregnant self, the lovemaking session would have been done with. Sigh!

Intercourse can become quite tricky once you have a tiny being growing inside you. With all your thoughts focused on his/her wellbeing, it is possible that even the thought is put on the backburner. But, if it does occur, know that it’s tricky yet possible. It doesn’t harm your baby in any which way (unless advised against). And, remember, it’s always your choice. So, take your time and be sure when you are ready for it!
