My Baby Cries A Lot And I Can’t Calm Him Down

Crying is an indication of the vitality of the newborn baby, a signal that it is strong, healthy and able to be heard. How to avoid losing your cool when baby crying is inconsolable.

The baby’s cry always alerts the mother. It is important that the crying is manifest, as it is one of the most important systems that the baby has at his disposal to communicate. For several months, crying will remain his main means of communicating, expressing his needs or his simple desires. Accepting and understanding her “language” will be one of the new mom’s biggest challenges.

Some tips to stay calm when baby cries

Know yourself to understand each other
The temptation to soothe the crying as soon as possible is very strong and, often, we try to calm the baby before even knowing why he is crying, by putting the pacifier or the breast in the mouth. You have to accept the idea that it takes a little time to get to know and understand each other. That means taking the baby in your arms to watch it, observe it and try to find out what’s going on. Of course, the answer does not have to be immediate. During the first days, the mother can feel disoriented if the newborn cries continuously. It can take a few weeks to start sympathizing with the infant and understanding what they need to be comforted.

Always answer, even if the baby asks you repeatedly
It is estimated that around six weeks of age, a baby cries two hours a day on average, or four in some cases. After three months, the crying gradually subsides, until it becomes an additional instrument of communication. However, all children are different, and there is no doubt that some cry more and others less. But, even if he is a very demanding child, you should not think that you are giving him bad habits by taking him often in your arms.

Crying always requires a response and a presence. During the first three months, the baby cries, even if it is only to hear voices around him or to be taken in his arms. Although he is screaming very loudly, that does not mean that he has a vital need for something, even if it is always something to worry about.

Be patient if you can’t calm him down
The next step is to admit that there is sometimes nothing you can do but be there, although it can test your ability to handle crying. Moms find it difficult to accept the fact that they cannot always meet the needs expressed by their baby at this time.

When this situation occurs, you must try not to lose your temper: in a few days, babies develop very sensitive “antennae” and realize that if there is tension around them, cry n helps obviously not to calm her down. But, not to worry, it is important to know that intense and prolonged crying does not indicate the presence of a disease. On the other hand, if the baby is really bad, he whines and complains only a little.
